Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect from my first few therapy session?
The initial consult is all about getting more information from you and answering any of your questions. After which, you'll start working with one of our psychologists and we would collaboratively develop a plan for our therapy sessions together.
Do I need a referral from a GP or specialist to get an appointment?
You do not need a referral from a GP or specialist in order to get an appointment. However, in order to access Medicare rebates for your sessions you will need to first get a referral from your GP for a Mental Health Care Plan. Without a referral, you will be charged the full fee of $220 per session.
Can I get a Medicare rebate on sessions?
You can get a Medicare rebate on up to ten sessions per calendar year. In order to access these rebates, you will need to visit your GP and get a Mental Health Care Plan. You may be eligible for a further five sessions under an Enhanced Primary Care Plan if you have a diagnosed chronic medical condition. The Medicare rebate as of 2023 for a standard consult is $92.90. Meaning you will be out of pocket by $127.40 for our standard consult.
How much does it cost?
The standard cost of 50 minute private consultation is $220. However, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate on sessions. Sessions may also be able to be claimed back via private health insurance, NDIS, Workcover or other funding bodies.
Do you provide reports for courts?
We do not offer reports or recommendations for courts as part of our services, including providing custody recommendations. We also do not appear in courts to provide evidence.
How many sessions will I need?
The amount of sessions needed varies widely and is dependent on the nature of the particular challenges you or your child are facing. Some therapy is short term and, in more complex cases, longer term therapy is more beneficial. We will discuss your needs and come up with a plan together.
Are there cancellation fees?
Yes, if you cancel within 48 hours of your appointment a 50% late cancellation fee. Same day cancellations or failure to show up to your appointment will result in the full cost of the service being charged.
How can I pay for a service?
Payment can be made by EFTPOS or through your NDIS plan managers if you are NDIS funded. We are able to process your Medicare rebate for you as part of the service.
Therapy consults for NDIS self managed and plan managed clients
For NDIS plan managed clients, there is a cap of $214.41 claimable from NDIS. This means there is a gap fee families will need to pay to cover our cost of $220. NDIS plan managed clients will be out of pocket by $5.59 per standard therapy consult. There are no gap fees for NDIS self managed clients.
